God's Love

Alvina Amoako

Another Valentine's day has approached us, and many will be celebrations around the globe. While it is good to celebrate, please make God a priority and celebrate his love for you. God loves us so much that he sends his only begotten Son to die for us and save us. Let us be mindful of this word in John 3:16, " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (KJV)." God is worth celebrating this Valentine's day because he is faithful and good. God's love for us is more powerful than any other force.

God's love can heal depression and anxiety, move mountains, transform lives, and set the captives free. God's love is also not far from our reach. We can access it any time and any day. On this Valentine's Day, rest and abide in God's love, and he will meet every need in your life. Remember what God has done for you and celebrate his love this Valentine's day. God's love should be celebrated every day but also use this Valentine's day as an opportunity to celebrate God on a deeper and higher level. As you celebrate God, he knows your heart, and your reward awaits you.

The writer of 1 John 4:16 penned down these words "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him (KJV)." We can deduce from the narrative the love that God has for us when we abide in him. Most of the time, we as humans face challenges that make us question the love of God. I always say this; God has not promised us a smooth sail in life. Whether we like it or not, life's problems and challenges will come without warning.

We must know and be confident that God still loves and cares for us amidst those challenges. Not all challenges come to destroy us, even though some are attacks from the enemy. But God has a reputation of always giving us victory, as long as we apply the word of God and allow God to move on our behalf. Interestingly, some challenges lead and propel us into our destiny and purpose. A good example of this is David's encounter with Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. In this biblical narrative, Goliath represents big problems and huge enemies. David addressed the challenge (Goliath) by saying, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied (NIV)." Apart from his skillful use of the sling and stones, David knew that God would be with him without a shadow of a doubt.

How then do you celebrate God's love this Valentine's day? Ponder on these principles and practice them. You will be amazed at how refreshed you will be:

1. Spend time worshipping and praising God.

2. Spend time in prayer.

3. Spend time reading the word.

4. Spend quality time with your loved ones

5. Share the love of God with others (Romans 13:8, NIV).

I pray that God's love and peace will rest upon you on this Valentine's Day as never before. May you become a conduit through which the love of God will be shared with others. May God make you soar higher as you celebrate the love of God.
